Orac Decor® elements are easy to install, but good preparation is half the battle. With these tips from professionals in mind, you will have no trouble fitting the elements without any effort.
When laying parquet or laminate, it is advisable to keep it 1 cm away from the wall. Wood breathes and the gap gives it the space to expand. You can hide the gap with our mouldings CX132 or CX133 or one of our skirting boards, which you then paint either white or the same colour as the wall.
If the floor is not level, it is best to draw a level line. The reference point is where the floor reaches its highest point. This is where you indicate the top point of the skirting board and then you draw a level line all around the space. Fit the skirting boards, and then seal the gap where the floor is slightly lower.
High skirting boards are very popular at the moment, but you must make sure that high skirting boards are in proportion to the total height of the wall. If not, the result will be too heavy and rather ostentatious.
You can also choose a skirting board and fit one or two panel moulding types above each other, slightly above the skirting board. Then you can paint the area of the skirting board up to and including the highest panel moulding in one colour to optically create one high skirting board.
Yes, they can, but it is very important that the paint has a clean, dry, non-greasy surface to adhere to. If in doubt, it is better to sand off any remaining dirt.
Always use Orac Decor® glues for the installation: Decofix Pro or Decofix Power in the case of very smooth surfaces.
It is best to remove the wallpaper before you install the Orac Decor® products. If necessary, you can cut and remove the relevant sections. If this is impossible and the wallpaper is smooth and non-porous, use Decofix Power to glue the Orac Decor® products.
Yes, you can. The only condition is that the plaster is completely dry.
If you want to combine wallpaper and paint on the same wall, panel moulding on the transition gives you the best result. You can also use panel moulding to separate two different wallpapers or a painted and a tiled wall. Panel moulding does not have to be used horizontally. Orac Decor® also offers many possibilities to create panels with matching corner elements. You can also use a different colour or wallpaper within these panels.
Orac Decor® offers a special glue for perfect joints: Decofix Extra. Once you have glued two moulding elements with Decofix Extra, it is important to push them against each other to ensure proper adhesion, faster drying time and easier cleaning of the joint.
– If you are using Decofix Pro (for porous surfaces indoors), all residual glue should be removed immediately with water.
– If you are using Decofix Extra (for perfect joints), remove any glue residue after 20 minutes with a spatula and acetone, paint thinner or a cloth.
– If you are using Decofix Power (for all surfaces indoors and outdoors), remove the glue residue immediately with soapy water or a cloth.
Remove everything from between the two Orac products with a (snap-off blade) cutter and fill the joint as deeply as possible with Decofix Extra. Push the two elements against each other and allow to dry for 20 minutes.
